Baghdad University in the 1970s, modern building for the era

Are you an Iraqi college-graduate?

Are you a recent  Iraqi-college graduate?

Did you manage to complete your studies in Iraq and graduate in the determined period of time for your major?!

If your answer to any of the questions above is Yes, then you are probably facing troubles or will be facing them in the future, and I say that with sadness and regret. The Iraqi educational institutes has reached a level where final exams for schools are more important than college year-closure final exams, a level where a med-school student faces the chance of losing 3 years and be forced to re-start medical college all over again, is ok.

I have a cousin who had to flee Iraq for safety reasons and has absolutely no records that indicate his graduation from school nor his participation in the medical school, and since Mosul has been frozen, he will probably lose his education because the “leaders” (whoever they are) can not provide a simple solution for the students to take their final exams in order to pass to the next level.

The world outside Iraq does not acknowledge Iraqi universities nor its certificates, which makes me wonder if the responsible parties are using this failure to trap the people in Iraq, a home that no longer feels like home.
